Virtual symposium: Insight from three award winning diabetes researchers

Every year the American Diabetes Association (ADA) honors excellent scientist and clinicians whom through their career have advanced insight in diabetes care and research. At this year ADA’s 81st Scientific Sessions, three leading scientists working in Danish institutions will be awarded for their excellent science and dedication to diabetes care and research.
In this virtual symposium, Friday the 11th of June 2021, we are extremely excited to welcome the three awardees Hans-Henrik Parving, Juleen Zierath and Jens Juul Holst.
You will have the opportunity to learn how these world-leading scientist have contributed to our understanding of diabetes and metabolism, how this have changed clinical care and importantly why they continued their dedication to science and education in the field of diabetes.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
This virtual symposium is intended for all researchers/clinicians working within any field of diabetes, including both clinical, basic and translational research and/or interdisciplinary research/work within fields related to diabetes.

Professor Hans-Henrik Parving (Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen) will be awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Diabetes Research Award. Read Hans-Henrik Parving's biosketch here.
Professor, Executive Director (Novo Nordic Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen) & Professor at Karolinska Institutet Juleen Zierath will be awarded the Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes. Professor Jens Juul Holst (Department of Biomedical Sciences & Novo Nordic Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen) will be awarded Banting Medal for Scientific Achievement and the Gairdner International Award.
