New publication from former Danish Diabetes Academy funded PhD student Louise Lang Lehrskov and Regitse Hoejgaard Christensen about the role of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in glucose homeostasis and lipid metabolism. In this review, they provide an overview of the pro- and anti-inflammatory aspects of IL-6 and the role of IL-6 in metabolic regulation, with a specific focus on glucose homeostasis and adipose tissue metabolism. Finally, they discuss the clinical potential of blocking IL-6 signaling.
