PhD course in Aarhus on up-to-date epidemiological knowledge within CVD, T2D and obesity

On November 19-21, Associate Professor Reimar Thomsen, Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Aarhus University Hospital, is hosting a 3-day PhD course on Clinical Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases, Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity at the Aarhus University in the Victor Albeck building.

UP-TO-DATE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE

The aim of the course is to provide students with up-to-date epidemiological knowledge in the exciting field of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and (dys-)metabolic diseases.

Topics will include atherosclerotic CVD, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, stroke, type 2 diabetes (T2D), and obesity. Risk factors, current trends in disease incidence and prevalence, pharmacoepidemiology, and clinical outcomes will be discussed.

INTRODUCTION TO BASIC AND ADVANCED OBSERVATIONAL METHODOLOGY TOOLBOX

There will be an introduction to the basic and advanced observational methodology toolbox within cardiovascular epidemiology and clinical outcome studies.

The students will thus be provided with guidance on designing, implementing, and interpreting studies in the cardiometabolic area using data from Danish registries and quality databases.
