Personalized medicine - the Danish national strategy

08.03.17

On March 16, 2017, the Copenhagen Bioscience Lecture, featuring Professor Henrik Ullum and Professor Ulrik Lassen from Rigshospitalet, will give you an insight in the path to Danish personal medicine.

CONCEPT OF THE CLUSTER LECTURES

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Cluster Lectures are a series of open lectures for all researchers and other interested in and around the Copenhagen area. Every 4 weeks, on a Thursday evening, you are invited for lectures on themes with a general interest for the Novo Nordisk Foundation Research Centers. Often there will be a cross-disciplinary focus.

ARE WE READY FOR A MEDICAL REVOLUTION?

The lecture on 16 March 2017 will give you an insight in the path to Danish personal medicine, including the potentials and pitfalls. Speakers Henrik Ullum and Ulrik Lassen will give you an insight in how Denmark has launched a national strategy for personalized medicine, which potentially will revolutionize the therapy for some patients in the future. The strategy requires intense investments in: technology, data security, legal clarity, relevant education and communication with patients. Are we ready for a medical revolution?

Professor Henrik Ullum is the chair of the Organization of Medical Societies in Denmark. He leads the Copenhagen Hospital Biobank Unit and studies the health of 100.000 participants in the Danish Blood Donor study.

Ulrik Lassen is Professor, MD, PhD, at University of Copenhagen. He established the Phase 1 Unit at the Department of Oncology at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, in 2005, and in 2017 he was appointed Head of Department.
