How can health data be put into play?

15.03.17

On 14 March 2017, around 50 people from academia and private companies were gathered at Aarhus University to discuss how health data can be used to create new solutions in the healthcare sector. Denmark is one of the most digitalized countries in the world and the citizens are frequently and thoroughly registered in public databases. So, are we sitting on a “gold mine”?

HOW TO MAKE USE OF RESEARCHERS' EXPERTISE IN FINDING AND HANDLING DATA

Professor Daniel Witte and Post Doc Adam Hulman gave a presentation on how they use cohorts and register data in their research. It was followed up by Associate Professor Reimar Thomsen, who gave information and practical examples on how private companies can make use of the researchers’ expertise in finding and handling data in cohorts and public databases. Project Manager Jens Steen Nielsen rounded up the “diabetes session” of the program by giving some practical examples on how they collect and use data in the DD2 biobank and the InterWalk app.

HOW TO USE BIG DATA TO CREATE NEW SOLUTIONS

Other presentations were given by Statens Serum Institut, Sundhedsdatastyrelsen, and the co-hosts the Alexandra Institute and Centre for Collaborative Health at Aarhus University. Also, three private companies, Daintel, Gmech, and Enversion, gave presentations on how they use big data to create new solutions for the health care sector.

BIG DATA - BIG POTENTIAL

The organizers hope that the participants gained new knowledge about the big potential in using health data and received new insights through practical examples that can inspire to new collaborations. The organisers will be most interested in supporting the establishment of such collaborations and for helping to find funding for the initiatives. So please contact us, if you have questions or need our assistance.
