The DDA Summer School has started

The DDA Summer School has started -
26.08.20

Everybody were in a very good mood when they Monday arrived at Gl. Avernæs on Funen for DDA Summer School on Diabetes & Metabolism for PhD Students. All safety precautions were made and the 50 PhD students and experts were ready for four exciting days with lots of presentations, sessions in plenum, networking activities and workshops.

Due to restrictions caused by COVID-19 it was necessary to use recorded presentations on the big screen. The first two to do this were Head of Drug Development, Aimo Kannt from Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology, and Assistant Professor Janice Hwang from Yale School of Medicine. They did their recorded presentations and afterwards they were online for further questions and the standing ovation which is a tradition at the summer school.

One minute presentations
All around Gl. Avernæs the student’s poster presentations were hanging. Monday and Tuesday afternoon the students were given one minute to promote their presentation and afterwards they held their presentations in front of interesseted listeners with a glass of juice or wine in their hands. The presentations showed a big variety in research areas and a lot of talent.

Out in the open
DDA Summer School is based in beautiful green nature near the water. And the participants did use some spare fun hours together on bikes, in canoes or on walks. And in the evening they could meet up again in the theme bar from Titanic for networking and fun stories.

The Summer School ends Thursday.
