Now open for applications!!!...The DDA Research Leaders Development Programme (RLDP)

This year we are thrilled to announce the launch of a new, intensive programme for you the future research leaders in diabetes:
The DDA Research Leaders Development Programme (RLDP)
We have teamed up with the Cambridge-based Researcher Development Partnership to create a bespoke, practical and inspiring research leadership programme that will support two cohorts of postdocs and PhD students over an 18-month period. The first cohort of 10 participants will start in May 2020 and the second cohort of another 10 participants will start in November 2020.
Why Research Leadership?
As researchers we understandably tend to focus on research and publications. However, based on our analysis and consultation with DDA-sponsored PIs, and past and present postdocs and PhD students, successful researchers also need leadership skills—whether it’s leading projects, leading disciplines or leading people.
But leadership is so much more than just specialist knowledge or expertise. To be a truly outstanding research leader in this rapidly changing age, we need mindsets as well as skillsets.
What’s in the Research Leaders Development Programme?
Innovatively, the RLDP programme cultivates three key mindsets—Resourcefulness, Connection and Sustainability—while developing your leadership skills through three six-month modules. Each module contains training days to develop skills; podcasts to inspire and deepen the understanding; webinars to support your learning and practical, relevant projects to further your career.
By the end of the programme you will have obtained the necessary skills, tools and experiences to lead with confidence, passion and brand-new mindsets for success.
Application
The programme opens for applications 3 February and closes 28 February 2020 at 12:00 noon. The application will include 5 questions relating to research leadership and your motivation and commitment to the programme. We encourage you to schedule enough time to answer these questions thoroughly.
