Center for Adipocyte Signaling – ADIPOSIGN seeks outstanding researchers and staff

The newly established Center for Adipocyte Signaling - ADIPOSIGN, hereby announces open positions for outstanding researchers and staff. ADIPOSIGN is funded by a recent major grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation for a period of six years and is a shared endeavor between University of Southern Denmark; MRC LMB, Cambridge, United Kingdom; and University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The goal of ADIPOSIGN is to understand how adipocytes receive and respond to signals at the level of the genome and the cell membrane through experimental and computational systems approaches. The objectives are to understand the molecular origin of variation in adipocyte function depending on depot, gender, and genetics and to understand how this contributes to the etiology and consequences of obesity in the human population.
ADIPOSIGN is run by four partners with highly complementary expertise in the fields of adipocyte biology, transcriptional regulation, signal transduction, and computational systems biology:
- Susanne Mandrup, Prof., Dept. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, SDU, DK (Director)
- Jan-Wilhelm Kornfeld, Prof., Dept. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, SDU, DK
- M. Madan. Babu, PhD/Programme Leader, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK
- Zach Gerhart-Hines, Assoc. Prof., NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen, DK
We seek outstanding candidates to support the research in the center. Candidates are expected to have a keen interest in applying and developing experimental, human genetics and computational systems approaches to gain an in-depth understanding of adipocyte signaling functions during development of obesity and the impact of human genome variations on the pathophysiological consequences of obesity.
