Annual meeting 2019 of the Quebec Society, the CMDO research network and the Colossus Congress

The 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Quebec Society for Lipid, Nutrition and Metabolism (SQLMN), the Cardiometabolic Health, Diabetes and Obesity (CMDO) Research Network and the Colossus Congress will be held 6-8 February 2019 at the Hotêl Cheribourg, Magog-Orford.
This symposium will be in conjunction with the SQLNM the CMDO and research platform on Complications of Obesity at Laval University and the University of Sherbrooke (Colossus).
In order to have a synergistic strong impact on the future health of the Quebec population for both dyslipidemia cardiometabolic aspects, management of SQLNM, under the chairmanship of Dr Pierre Julien and direction CMDO and Colossus under the direction of Dr. André Carpentier, agreed to jointly hold this annual symposium.

HELP TO SELF-HELP - CREATE A RESEARCH PROFILE
Scientific Coordinator, PhD Lucien Junior Bergeron has created an interactive networking tool for researchers, the main objective of which is to catalyze collaborative research within the CMDO Network and make its researchers more competitive.
CMDO Network members or non-members (researchers, physicians, students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, research professionals, nurses, etc.) with expertise that could be relevant in one way or another to the research area of cardiometabolic health, diabetes and obesity (CMDO) are invited to create a research profile.
This networking tool is free of charge, open to CMDO researchers, and any researcher outside the network interested in interacting with CMDO members.
The CMDO Network website is public: www.rrcmdo.ca, but the research profiles are not, and accordingly there is no public access to the profile database. Consequently, the CMDO network meets the criteria of the Ministry of Health and Social Services' Policy for health and well-being.
CMDO IS ONE OF THE MOST RECENT THEME NETWORKS
The CMDO network is one of the most recent theme networks funded by the Fonds de recherche Québec en santé. Their network brings together more than 120 research teams working across more than 30 institutions in Quebec.
The network aims to establish international partnerships attracting scientific collaborations, technological transfers, as well as investments from outside of Quebec.
Through their networking tool they aim to bring together previously unconnected, leading-edge scientific and clinical experts, provide solid support for existing and future infrastructure, and develop large, multicentre patient cohorts.
THE MISSION OF THE CMDO NETWORK
The mission of the network is to conduct research on cardiometabolic health, diabetes and obesity, widely diffuse its results and ensure the findings are used to promote the health and quality of life of Quebec citizens.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
The strategic objectives of the CMDO network are:
- To promote, establish and strengthen collaborations between the teams involved in the network's three research themes through meetings
- To increase Quebec's capacity to recruit and retain successful researchers
- To facilitate the establishment of international partnerships
- To promote the transfer of knowledge
- To ensure that members have timely access to specialized platforms and communal services
- To prioritize training for the new generation of scientists
