The 4th BBDC-Joslin-UCPH Conference on Diabetic Complications
The Banting and Best Diabetes Centre (BBDC), Joslin Diabetes Center (Joslin) and University of Copenhagen (UCPH) are hosting their fourth joint symposium 19-21 October 2017 at University of Toronto in Canada with the topic Diabetic Complications from Molecular Mechanisms to Patient Orientated Research.
ABSTRACT COMPETITION
To continue the collaboration with the three oldest and largest diabetes centers in the world, the Danish Diabetes Academy supports 10 trainees from Denmark to attend the 4th BBDC-Joslin-UPCH symposium with up to 10.000 DKK to cover travel and accommodation expences. Accordingly, Post Doc fellows and PhD students are invited to submit a first-author abstract of their diabetes related work for presentation at the conference.

BBDC and Joslin will likewise select 10 young researchers from their respective institutions to attend the conference.

TRAINING DAY FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS
On the day before the actual conference (on October 19), the 30 selected young researchers are invited to attend a training day, where they will be introduced to a 'diabetes challenge' - a specific assignment that they will work on in groups of 4-5.
The main objective of this challenge is to engage and motivate them prior to/ and during the 4th BBDC-Joslin-UCPH conference. The secondary objective is to facilitate the development of networks among the young researchers across the three involved institutions.
Further information about the training day will be forwarded to the selected young researchers in August.
