Junior researchers from other Danish institutions, who may find the workshop relevant to their research and network are also welcome to apply for a place at the course – please express early interest as places are limited.

All participants are selected based on abstract submission and will be notified after the registration deadline.

Please note, that you are not guaranteed a seat at the mini-symposium if you do not meet the target group requirements. If the event is overbooked, the DDA reserves its right to select participants based on the defined requirements and place/country of employment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The mini-symposium will bring together leading experts and junior researchers working in the field of type 2 diabetes with a focus on adipose tissue dysfunction and lipid metabolism. Hosted by 3 Theme leads from University of Edinburgh, CBMR/UCPH and SDU, speakers are drawn from field leaders and emerging junior experts with expertise in adipocyte development, function, and disease.

Day 1 will focus on knowledge exchange, with contributors show-casing the latest breaking research on the transcriptional landscape of adipocyte fate determination, inflammatory and hypoxic insult in adipose tissue, brown adipose tissue as a therapeutic target, drug discovery/development strategies, genetic and epi-genetic regulatory factors and model systems.

Day 2 will focus on the latest cutting-edge technologies applied to understanding adipose tissue function and dysfunction in disease including imaging and population level genetics. The mini-symposium will end with a round-up of future potential collaborations, funding opportunities and bridge building for knowledge exchange built around post-graduate mobility among the participating institutions.

Present your research at the mini-symposium:
During the mini-symposium you will get the opportunity to present your research with a poster and a poster pitch based on your submitted abstract. Please see the guidelines under “registration & submission of abstract”. More information will follow after the registration deadline.
