DDA Annual Day 2019

The Annual Day is a celebration of the high quality of diabetes research in Denmark and abroad with the purpose of giving diabetes researchers in Denmark the opportunity to create fruitful networks and to give and/or listen to inspirational talks. Before the event you can nominate a researcher who you believe deserves acknowledgments and at the event the DDA will give out awards to talented junior researchers. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
We invite all postdocs and PhD students (obligatory for Danish Diabetes Academy funded postdocs and PhD fellows) to submit an abstract in addition to the registration.
The abstracts will be accepted for either an oral presentation or a poster presentation.
Please submit your abstract on the registration page.
Submission deadline: 21 October 2019
The DDA Committee for Education will evaluate the incoming abstracts and select the ones who will be offered a poster presentation or oral presentation at the meeting.
DANISH DIABETES ACADEMY AWARDS
DDA calls for nominations for two diabetes prizes to recognize, excellence, innovation, passion and commitment in Danish diabetes research:
- DDA-Funded Scientist Award: This award is presented to a junior DDA-funded researcher who has shown great potential to be a world‐class researcher within his/her field of expertise.
- Young Investigator Award: This award is presented to a junior researcher, below the age of 40, who is engaged in diabetes research in Denmark, and who has shown promising research and made an important contribution to the understanding and treatment of diabetes.
Requirements for nomination
- The candidates must be members of the DDA
- The candidates must be nominated by a member of the DDA (members of the DDA can only nominate one person each for each award)
- The candidates must be engaged in diabetes research
Furthermore, the following specific requirements apply for each award:
- DDA-Funded Scientist Award: The candidate must be currently or previously funded by the DDA (currently or previously DDA-funded visiting professor cannot be nominated).
- Young Investigator Award: The candidate must be below the age of 40 and must have obtained his/her PhD diploma within the past 10 years.
Please note: The winners must be able to attend the award ceremony on the DDA Annual Day (12 November 2019).
Nomination deadline is 1 October 2019.
Nominations must be written in English and submitted via our online nomination forms (see links below).

POSTER AWARDS
There will be awards for the best 3 posters:
- Price: 3000 DKK
- Price: 2000 DKK
- Price: 1500 DKK
Poster format
- Bring a poster size: A0 or A1 – width: max. 1 m/ height: max. 1.25 m (see example of poster templates here )
- Formal language: English
Poster session procedure
- The posters will be presented during two informal open poster sessions i.e. you are expected to stand by your poster and answer questions from passers-by during the poster session that your poster number is assigned to.
- The posters will either be displayed right outside the plenum room or in the back of the plenum room.
