The Annual Day is a celebration of the high quality of diabetes research in Denmark and abroad with the purpose of giving diabetes researchers in Denmark the opportunity to create fruitful networks and to give and/or listen to inspirational talks. All are welcome to attend and the event is free of charge (including access to symposium, breakfast, lunch, coffee, refreshments and buffet dinner).

DANISH DIABETES ACADEMY SCIENTIST AWARD

This award is presented to a young DDA-funded researcher who has shown great potential to be a world‐class researcher within his/her field of expertise.

Nomination:

  • The candidate must be nominated by a member of the DDA
  • The candidate must be a member of the DDA
  • The candidate must be funded by the DDA (or a previously funded researcher whose grant term has ended within the last year)

Requirements:

  • Letter of nomination from the nominator (max. 500 words)
  • CV of the candidate including publication list

Please note:

  • The winner has to be able to attend the award ceremony on the DDA Annual Day.
  • Members of the DDA can only nominate one person each.
  • Nomination deadline is 1 October

Applications must be written in English and submitted via the online application form for the Nomination of the DDA-funded Scientist Award.

YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD

This award is presented to a young researcher, below the age of 40, who is engaged in basic or clinical diabetes research in Denmark within one of the five main focus areas of Danish Diabetes Academy, and who has shown promising research and made contribution to the understanding and treatment of diabetes.
 

Nomination:

The following requirements have to be fulfilled: 
  • The candidate must be nominated by a member of the DDA
  • The candidate must be a member of the DDA
  • The candidate must be below the age of 40 and must have obtained his/her PhD diploma within the past 10 years
  • The candidate must be engaged in diabetes research
Requirements:
  • Letter of nomination from the nominator (max. 500 words)
  • CV of the candidate including publication list

Please note: 

  • Members of the Danish Diabetes Academy can only nominate one person each. 
  • The winner has to be able to attend the award ceremony on the DDA Annual Day.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

We invite all Post Docs and PhD students (obligatory for Danish Diabetes Academy funded Post Docs and PhD fellows) to submit an abstract in addition to the registration.

The abstracts will be accepted for either an oral presentation or a poster presentation.

Submission deadline: 24 October 2018 - please note that the deadline has been postponed!

The DDA Committee for Education will evaluate the incoming abstracts and select the ones who will be offered a poster presentation or oral presentation at the meeting. 

POSTER AWARDS 

There will be awards for the best 3 posters
  1. Price: 3000 DKK
  2. Price: 2000 DKK
  3. Price: 1500 DKK 

POSTER FORMAT

  • Bring a poster size: A0 or A1 – width: max. 1 m/ height: max. 1.25 m (see example of poster templates here)
  • Formal language: English 

POSTER SESSION PROCEDURE

  • The posters will be presented during two informal open poster sessions i.e. you are expected to stand by your poster and answer questions from passers-by during the poster session that your poster number is assigned to.
  • The posters will either be displayed right outside the plenum room or in the back of the plenum room.

In addition to the Poster Awards, the Danish Diabetes Academy will award two diabetes prizes to recognize excellence, innovation, passion and commitment to Danish diabetes research - the Danish Diabetes Academy Scientist Award and the Young Investigator Award (see descriptions and nomination details below).

The symposium is free of charge but due to the practical arrangement, registration is required - register to the event using the "sign-up to event" button above.
