2017

PhD student Anja Elaine Sørensen has received an exchange travel grant of 27.000 DKK for a visit to the laboratory of Professor Anandwardhan A. Hardikar, University of Sydney, Australia from 1 April - 1 May 2017.

The overall purpose of Anja Sørensen's PhD project is to identify microRNA biomarkers of insulin resistance and reduced fertility in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She would like to extend her studies of serum markers of PCOS to the novel method of measuring tissue-specific methylation in circulating cell free DNA. This novel method is mastered by the laboratory of Professor Anandwardhan A. Hardikar, University of Sydney, Australia.

The opportunity to visit the Hardikar lab will facilitate the exchange of a novel technology to our group and will be applied to obtain a greater understanding of the link between PCOS and diabetes. Furthermore, establishing a network within the diabetic research community internationally will, according to Anja Sørensen, greatly contribute to further her professional carrier goals.
