How can research and the clinic interact to develop optimal treatments for children & adolescents with type 1 diabetes? This question will be discussed during the symposium that includes basic research and prevention, clinical aspects and psychosocial aspects. The aim is to increase awareness of synergies that arise by including research in the clinic and the clinic in research.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
The target group is researchers and clinicians from pediatric departments in Denmark and Skåne, interested people from the Steno Diabetes Centres, researchers from Danish universities, patient associations, general practices, and others who are interested in the subject.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The theme of this symposium is children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes - meeting the bio-psycho-social challenges. For the age groups each of the following aspects will be discussed:
- Basic research and prevention
- Clinical aspects
- Psychosocial aspects
For all aspects there will be presentations and discussions on state of the art, challenges, and ideas for research in a multidisciplinary setting.
The symposium will include presentations by international and national researchers; patients and their relatives; and discussions in different formats. The focus will be the broadness of research, possibilities for collaborations, dilemmas, challenges, and possible gains from multidisciplinary research.
