Presenting Powerfully - PhD & Postdoc Presentation Course

The two-day course on Presenting Powerfully for Phd students and postdocs will provide you with the opportunity to focus on enhancing your presentation skills to create engaging presentations and be better equipped to handle difficult questions.
The purpose of the course is to build on your existing knowledge and ability, and to take these to a higher level, where your self-confidence, speaking skills and control of the medium will make your presentations more powerful and effective.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
The course is intended PhD students and postdoc fellows working within the research area of diabetes.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
At the course we will combine trainer input, discussion, and practical activities to provide you with step-by-step ‘best practice’ coaching and support to ensure that the training is:
- highly interactive & informative, using a wide range of practical & productive activities
- creative, challenging and fun with lots of expert guidance
- supportive, providing opportunities for mini practice sessions to try out ideas
- reflective, with on-the-spot professional coaching, peer feedback and learning-by-doing
By the end of the course, you will be able to appraise effectively the volume of data an audience can take in, demonstrate best practice techniques in handling difficult questions and have developed greater self-awareness of interpersonal skills needed to present effectively. This includes:
- becoming a more credible presenter by understanding and developing your role and strengths as a speaker
- becoming more aware of the importance of body language, voice quality, and non-verbal elements of communication
- be able to demonstrate how to present to a variety of audiences

Registration deadline: 9 August 2019
All participants will need to bring a pre-prepared presentation to the course, following the guidance set out in an invitation letter. The invitation letter will be sent after the registration deadline.

Accommodation
Participants living outside the Copenhagen area have the possibility to stay, free of charge, at Hotel Wakeup, Borgergade 9, 1300 København from 10-12 September 2019. You register for accommodation when you sign up to the course.
Certification
You will receive a certificate for your participation. The course awards 1.7 ECTS points.
No-show fee
Please note that it is free of charge to participate in the course however the DDA will charge a no-show fee of 250 DKK if you have not unregistered from the course prior to course start.
