Steno Rounds lecture on the Indian thin-fat phenotype featuring Chittaranjan Yajnik

On May 31, 2018, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen is inviting all interested to join the Steno Rounds Lecture "The Indian thin-fat phenotype – discoveries from a long career with diabetes research in India and abroad" by Dr. Chittaranjan Yajnik, Director of the Diabetes Unit, King Edward Memorial Hospital and Research Centre, Pune, India.

ABOUT THE LECTURE

Professor Chittaranjan Yajnik's research focuses on the high susceptibility of Indians to diabetes and related disorders, and is known for his description of the 'thin fat Indian'. 

During the lecture Dr. Yajnik will describe the Pune findings in DOHaD perspective and discuss the Indian thin-fat phenotype and the possible role of vitamin B12  deficiency and deranged 1-C metabolism in its aetiology.

In 2017 Dr. Yajnik was appointed as Visiting Professor at Danish Diabetes Academy (DDA) and he now collaborates with Danish experts on exploring the substantial differences between Indians and Scandinavians. Watch the DDA webinar he held with focus on gestational diabetes mellitus last year.
