Invitation to the annual meeting of the Danish Association for the Study of Obesity

On 10-11 November 2017, Danish Association for the Study of Obesity (Dansk Selskab for Adipositasforskning - DSAF) is conducting their annual meeting at Sinatur Hotel Storebælt in Nyborg - all interested are welcome. 

OVERALL THEME OF THE MEETING: IS OBESITY A DISEASE? 

There are differing views on whether or not obesity should be characterized as a disease. It is a known fact that obesity often is refered to as a chronic condition, that the number of obesse children and adults has been increasing for the past decades, and that obesity is associated with stigmatization and over time can lead to a variety of complications for the individual.

At the annual meeting of DSAF there will be panel discussions and scientific lectures, an opportunity for young researchers to show their latest research results, and not the least to network with fellow researchers and to win the Young Investigator Prizes.

INVITED SPEAKERS

On Friday 10 November 2017 you among others get to meet:

Professor Signild Valgårda, Consultant Jens Christian Holm, and Tatjana Hejgaard from Danish Health Authority in a panel discussion about whether or not obesity is a disease.

Professor Kjeld Møller Pedersen about economical aspect of obesity.
Associate Professor Thomas Bøtker Lund about the societys unwillingness to pay for public paid bariatric surgery. 
PhD Pelle Fuldborg Hansen about nudging and obesity.

Furthermore there will be an evening session followed by a conference dinner and allocation of the Young Investigator Prizes.

On Saturday 11 November 2017 the programme among other things includes a morning session with:

Professor Jens Meldgaard Bruun about coiunter regulating mechanism against weight loss
PhD Julie Kloppenborg obesity as a chronic desease seen from the children and youth perspective
Professor Berit Heitmann about obesity as a chronic desease
Professor Torben Jørgensen about multi natinal impact on public health
