Science in Southern Denmark workshop: New research topics and virtual exercises

At the second workshop of the Science in Southern Denmark project, held at Odense University Hospital on February 9, 2017, the upper secondary school teachers were presented to new research topics and virtual exercises by the affiliated Danish Diabetes Academy Post Doc fellows and representatives from Biotech Academy.
INTRODUCTION TO THE EFFECT OF TRAINING
Rikke Kruse Sørensen introuduced the teachers to the effect of training on muscular metabolism and autophagy in patients with type 2 diabetes.

INTRODUCTION TO STEM CELL RESEARCH
Michaela Tencerova gave a presentation on her research on stem cells and bone marrow stromal cells in obesity.

INTRODUCTION TO NEW DIABETES EXERCISES IN THE VIRTUAL LAB
After lunch, Gustav Kjær Lindved and Niklas Ladegaard Andersen, from Biotech Academy, gave an introduction to the new diabetes exercises in the Virtual Lab and the accompanying teaching materials, and afterwards the teachers were able to get hands on experience with the exercises and the teaching materials.
