New Clinical Professor of Diabetes at Aalborg University

At the turn of the year, the diabetes researcher and neuropathy expert Niels Ejskjær was appointed Clinical Professor at Aalborg University and Specialist Consultant at Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University Hospital. Niels Ejskjær is supervisor for the Danish Diabetes Academy PhD fellow Michael Væggemose.

20 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Diabetes research and treatment has been reinforced in North Jutland with the appointment of Niels Ejskjær, who with his 20 years' experience in treating diabetes patients, and in doing research within especially diabetes complications, is committed to providing better treatment options for people with diabetes in North Jutland and to strengthing diabetes research at Aalborg University.

RESEARCH WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON NEUROPATHY

Niels Ejskjær is studying long-term complications of diabetes with special focus on neuropathy - one of the most disabling complications of diabetes due to the nerve damages, in particular, on feet and legs, causing many of the 1000 amputations that diabetes patients undergo every year.
